CERTALDO room

Certaldo is a tuscan municipality of 16.253 habitants in Florence province, sited in the middle of the interesting art city of Valdelsa, where Boccaccio is born and that thanks to its beauty has obtained the Orange Flag of Italian Touring Club. The name Certaldo comes from latin “Cerrus Altus” or from Germanic “Cerrus Aldo”. In both cases the name means a high ground covered by turkey oaks.

The birth of Certaldo Castle was encouraged by having a lot of riches areas around and staying on the new Via Francigena. The archeological excavations showed its importance during the etrurian-hellenistic and high-medieval age.
