PIENZA room
Pienza is a tuscan municipality of 2.231 habitants of Siena Province, probably it is the most famous centre for its artistic importance of Val D'Orcia. Pienza's history, instead of the near cities, is not characterised by long periods of medieval events and wars. The city was a small village until 1462, known as Corsignano. The event that changed the fate of Pienza was the birth of Enea Silvio Piccolomini in 1405 who became Pope Pio II 53 years later. Cheeses, wines, legumes of an extraordinary quality complete the characteristics of a really unique city. The cheese known as Pecorino of Crete Senesi, recently has adopted the name of Pecorino of Pienza, but also as Pecorino of Val D'Orcia. It is a characteristic and very good cheese that vaunts an unique tradition and production in the world.
